Chana daal chutney



Ingredients:
  • Chana daal: 1/2 cup
  • Fresh Coconut pieces (chopped/ grated): 1/4 cup
  • Ginger: 1 piece (medium) (chopped)
  • Salt: to taste
  • Green chilli: 1-2 (chopped)
  • Oil: 1 tsp
  • For seasoning:
    • Mustard seeds: 1 tsp
    • Curry leaves: a few
    • Urad daal: 1/2 tsp
    • Oil: 1 tsp

Method:


  1. Heat oil (1 tsp) in pan. Add mustard seeds. Let them splutter. Add curry leaves.
  2. Add  ginger, green chilli and salt. Cook for 1-2 mins.
  3. Add chana daal. Cook till it turns light brown colour.
  4. Turn off the gas and let it cool.
  5. Grind roasted daal and coconut to form a smooth chutney.
  6. Seasoning:
    • In a pan, heat 1 tsp oil. 
    • Add mustard seeds. Let them splutter.
    • Add urad daal and curry leaves.
    • Cook for 3-4 mins.
  7. Add seasoning to the ground mixture of daal and coconut. Mix well.
  8. Ready to serve with AppamDosaIdliUthapam
PS:
  • The consistency of chana daal chutney is a bit more fluidic.
